Her senses came alert with the signs of a horse nearby. She lifted her head from the ground, searching for the other creature. Spying the queen, she struggled to stand. Finally up, she wobbled for a few seconds then stood firm. Monet's Head went down in a low bow. When she could reach no more, she swiveled her eyes up to the other mare. She didn't speak, she was not one to talk often, but her eyes showed kindness, welcome, yearning, and a touch of fright. Once more she looked around nervously. She had seen the shadows move and hiss before, in another realm. She was being chased. By what, she did not know, but she seeked safty and belonging.
