Subject: No need to panic

Let's put last game into perspective. It was a shockingly poor performance, but it was not an indication about the way the season was heading.

Looking back on our last five games. Carlisle we were poor, but against Huddersfield, Hull and Lincoln, we put in decent showings and certainly showed a lot more than we did against Carlisle.

Last night was just one of those games. Very few players came out of the game with credit. In my book, Gilksy was probably our best performer, though others around me last night disagreed with that.

With so many players having an off night, there was never any chance of getting anything from it. I know it's a hobbyhorse of the Macc fans about teams having their worst ever game at the Moss Rose when Macc win, but last night was a dire game between two dreadful sides, with Macc coming to life for the last 20 minutes which was all that was needed to win that game.

Whilst, I do think last night was a one off, changes are needed for Saturday, as I think AB has given some players a fair crack of the whip for too long. Brannan was dreadful and the decision to allow Betts to sign for Kiddie is looking a bigger mistake by the day.

Unfortunately, we've no one else within the squad ('cept the unfancied Lee Duffy) who can play central midfield (Strach's not ready yet based on last night's very brief showing). Much as we have lamented Betts' non signing, we can go on about that as its not about what could have been, but where we go now.

The extended contract to Doughty has made Simpkins' position that bit stronger. There's no mileage to bring in another left back, so perhaps Matty deserves a run out at left back.

On a brighter note, Chris Shuker. 20-1. Thank you very much. (the cheques in the post Wozz - honest!)
