Subject: Your not a boat number

I would like to take a moment to explain the difference (in my opinion), between a Club and a Tournament Circuit, and is mainly for those who want to be part of the excitement of competition fishing, but are not aware of what either is about.

The first and most important thing, is the friendship you will have from your club members,

In a club you will find that, every one knows you, talks to you, and helps you as best as they can.

I have yet to have been at one of our club events, or at a meeting, that I did not get help from a fellow member on either, what to use, or where I should be fishing at any events that we are at.

At tournament circuits, you will find that most of the participants tend to be more to themselves; and they also have their little groups that they will hang with throughout the season.

Also, when you do enter a circuit event, expect no information on what some one will be using, or were the bite might be that day. In a way, this is how a tournament like that should be.

Fact is, that you will be dishing out your hard-earned money (and a lot of it), to be fishing for some good size purses that will compliment, only the winners.

When you are a member of a club, you mean something to that group, such as your opinions on anything that goes on within the club , you are also entitled to vote on matters concerning the club, and Why,? "Because You Are The Club!"

Being in a circuit, you probably will not have any say so on what takes place nor, where you will be at throughout the year, its cut and dry, you pay,$$$ you play...

Many clubs membership fees are low in cost, and so are their events, and all monies collected are accounted for, and always go back to the club and eventually back to you.

What this means to you is, "No one gets paid for running Your club."

You can also expect payouts to go down the line allot farther in a club than in a circuit.

The Tracker Bass Club, pays one in every four boats entered. This may not seem allot, but have 30 boats entered and you get seven teams that receive checks and, the next eight teams will get merchandise (Thanks to sponsors that donate to the clubs).

What this all boils down to, is that clubs will not make their events top heavy, so even if you do not finish in the top three, you will still feel as though you walked away a winner.

Circuits on the other hand, pay heavy on the top, (usually the top 3) and the rest of the field had the opportunity to contribute to those winners...Most left over money goes to some huge final (less directors fees)., where there might be over "200 boats" that advanced from different regions throughout the state, and even there they usually will pay the top three only with, boats or big cash payouts;.. And as for the rest of their field, maybe15th place will get back something for that large entry fee they paid to enter.

In conclusion: I have fished in big money tournaments, and when it came down to deciding on which way to go, the choice was easy...CLUB.

Think about this before you drop that hard-earned money, that either way the competition will be there in both a club and a circuit. However, having the chance to be a part of a club, and have the opportunity to be involved and help others, out weighed the money that you might have won even if you had finished on top in a tournament circuit event.

Thanks; and remember, you are not just a boat number; you are a Member and a Friend.
