If it was me, I would get a second opinion from an oncologist or gyn/onc. It is your health. When you call for a second opinion be sure to tell them the location, when it appeared, that you only have the lump on what side, the size, etc.
I especially would not wait a month. My gyn/onc has always told me if I feel a lump under the skin along the groin line to let him know immediately. It might an infected node or something much more serious.

Hey Erica...I will go with Joan on this on get a second opinion...I personally like a dermatologist...they are better informed about all the little abnormal that can affect the skin...the fact that it is sore...is enough for me..get a second opinion…this is most often the better choice..

Vulva cancer is uncommon...but it does happen. I hate it when a doctor tells me this...if he was to say it never happens...then I can go with this...but it does and rare does happen. Vulva cancer is also the most common to be put on the side lines...until it is more aggressive....timing is everything....

Let us know what happens.

Good luck to you..
Myra

myra has a very good point about dermatologists. They are becoming much more active and knowledgable about HPV, VIN, etc. Dermatologists tend to try creams and less invasive techniques than surgeons. Surgeons may not always be most current on topical treatments. Surgeons do make a living by doing surgeries.
