I am 20 years old and about a year and a half ago, my pap smears started coming back ASC-US. I had 3 repeat paps done, all with the same results. I was seeing a nurse practitioner and my mom and I decided I needed to see an ob/gyn. My new dr did another pap that came back ASC-H. After that, I had a colposcopy and 3 biopsies done that came back CIN II. I am HPV negative and have had my Gardisil shots.

At this point, I'm only looking for someone who has been through this or knows about it who can give me any advice on what steps I need to take. I'm a 20 year old college student. I go to school about 4 hours away from my hometown, which makes it hard for me to see my ob/gyn and I just have so many questions.

I can't seem to understand why my dr is taking things so slow. I had abnormal paps for about a year, waiting 4 months between each. Then she had me wait 3 months for the biopsy, which I had in May, and now it's nearing August and I am still just waiting. She recommended my next step is simply a pap and that I should just follow up with paps every 6 months. I just feel so helpless, like I should be having something more than just paps twice a year.

I guess I'm just wondering how serious my condition actually is? And how fast it has the potential to progress? My ob/gyn just keeps telling me I'm young and I'll beat this. My mom has suggested I get a second opinion by an oncologist. I just feel kind of lost about what to do. I have big plans for after graduation and I'm hoping to have kids one day in the far-away future. I don't want to be looking back thinking "I should have done more." Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies =)
