Damuthca turned over his sword, placing it in the Emperor's hands. He clung to her like a child, and slowly she slid him off of her. A soft, gentle look told him she loved him, and slowly she got to her feet.

The Emperor was turning to walk away, taking the first step that felt like an eternity in Tyrsis' mind. The world slowed, her breath even and her mind nowhere. Her footsteps were quiet, barefoot on stone placed methodically so as not to stir the dust. Training guided her, not her mind, not a telltale device that so many could interpret and read.

She moved foreward, wings blading as it slid through the air, parting it neatly as Dashell had taught her. An assassin's art mingled with a warror's training as garnet feathers made no sound. She aimed for the back of his head, where armor met helm, should he be wearing one.

If she never made it there, she had tried.
