Tyrsis glanced at Damuthca's back, momentarily taking her eyes away from the search for snake tunnels. They had been airborne for nearly an hour and, despite the appearance of several of the holes, none were fresh enough to even consider. Nowhere was the dirt dark enough to signal a recent passing. It was as though the Ith'Dakar had vanished entirely.

Damuthca's wings beat steadily, his pace never slowing or halting as he did just as she. Seeking was, however, a forte for her.

"There." Her voice was soft, but he should hear it. There was little wind this far away from the open plains. "There are fresh marks around that one."

The footprints were small, not those of the snake men. They were mostly covered over, a few remaining where they had likely been overlooked at the very edge of the tunnel. Garnet wings slid bladed and she beat harder to stay aloft, sunlight glittering through the semi-transparent armor of feathers. Her fingers held the silver rod loosely, right hand free for action.
