Myuler's head raised after his acceptance and aquamarine eyes followed Morpheus from then on. He caught the gentle nod of Aurora in the corner of his eye to the frail looking man. The seven foot twig of a man scared Myuler more at that moment than his own Goddess.
"Divinity," Morpheus explained softly, "requires an essence, and it can't just be granted by one deity." A heart?
Terror engulfed him as he heart that and his eyes shot from the crystal to the dream walker. What were they going to do? Tear his heart out and replace it with something that didn’t beat or bleed? Or were they going to take out his soul and put it into a crystal, like a lich’s phylactery?
All these tore through is mind before he realized he was being laid back in the arms of Hope and Aurora. His eyes darted up to his Goddess, searching and pleading.
‘We won’t hurt you,’ echoed in his mind from before as he remembered her words. Then Morpheus placed the crystal on his checks. It felt warm resting there, even before the three divinities placed their hands over it.
Myuler tensed up, expecting pain and torture and blood. A second before they let the crystal sink in he felt the link to his Goddess snap. And for that second, he felt alone.
But after it sank in, he no longer felt alone, but keenly felt every deity around him. He also felt such terrible, yet sublime pain. His body writhed under the supportive hold of the three divine beings that held him steady.
Seconds passed, an eternity of seconds. Pain yet it was wonderful, intoxicating. There was a feeling of pleasure in peace and Myuler was keenly aware of it. His eyes shut as it washed over and through him before settling into his very soul. A single tear fell from his eye and hit the ground liquidly instead of crystallizing. He was no longer Forgotten, but now he was something more.
He knew ever magic ever created and destroyed and had free manipulation of them all, except a forbidden few. Time magic was limited to him for the only purpose of traveling back to see things, but never change them. The twins of Void and Null would remain beyond his grasp eternally and he didn’t care.
He was God of Magic and that knowledge settled deep within him as he opened his eyes, still held in the arms of the older divinities.
He breathed easy.
