When the human girl finally regained her wind she took off to the city. When she reached it she found it as she expected she would, abandoned and empty, the portal at the center of the city glittering as it waited for her to pass through. Walking up to it she took a deep breath and plunged into it, vanishing from Aurora. After she'd passed through the portal it collapsed on itself, the city crumbling to red dust that blew away on the first strong wind that scoured the valley, leaving no trace that anyone or anything had lived there.
