In reply to: Johan, Kyira, Jarek, Mari's shadowcritters 's message, "Continued" on 12/30/04 2:09:42am Thu

Jarek remained moving forward silently and through the shadows, why would he give up an obvious advantage. Clenched fist ready to squeeze and release the wrist blade at a moments notice.

"You wanted information, Damongrave," Kyira's voice was soft, a more reasonable tone than it had been previously, "perhaps we can give one another more than you had hoped."

Johan sighed listening to Kyira, "perhaps," He said, his eyes sought Jarek, but his ears told him much... the man's subtle movements told him exactly where the fellow was, "I'm really growing quite annoyed," He said, if he could have seen him, he'd literally be looking right at Jarek, "I'm not deaf you know."

Jarek smiled, and continued walking toward Johan, using the weave of magic he held in the shadows to create a series of footstep in multiple places Jarek's best magic was were to make you think you'd heard or seen something when nothing was there. While he was at it his magic began to smear and blur objects in and out of vision to further place Johan off balance. Among the storm of illusions that had now formed Jarek could move and Johan couldn't be certain as to where.

The problem with that was, Jarek didn't realise Johan had another advantage.. his sense of smell, "Illusions don't work on me either," He said, his nose giving him a good idea where Jarek was. Once Johan had your scent, evading notice was a lot like trying to get through a steel wall by slamming your head into it.

Jarek smiled from within the shadows and began to circle the two as he walked thus to spread his smell, the problem with scent was it lingered for quite some time before fading thus why it is good for tracking but not to useful in pinpointing positions. Jarek knew this from past experience, the more he moved the more difficult to find he would be expecially with the illusions still running.

Johan sighed, the person wasn't going to play nice, so he decided to unleash a few of his own tricks, but nothing overt... he closed his eyes for starters, and began to gently tap a finger against his sword sheathe. The movement was subtle, and he caught the precise tone of the tap, so it bounced back... giving him a crude, but working form of sonar. He knew right were Jarek was, in spite of the attempts at throwing him off. With this as a given, he almost chuckled... and with a downward flick of his sword hand, caught a rock with the blade... a small one, and sent it whizzing right at Jarek.

Kyira waited, patient and calm. Not even the most perfect of assasins could come closer than two feet within their target and still remain unseen, not without placing themselves in a stable position that there target would walk past. She shifted, her back now protecting Johan's and his, with any regard, protecting hers. An ear remained in that direction, trained on Johan, not the other sounds that shifted through the night.

A vial slid loose from Kyira's belt and into her hand, uncorked in a fluid motion.

Jarek moved his head slightly for the rock to fly past and watched Johan slightly, after a few moments of watching him Jarek realised where it was coming from this time and closed his eyes. This person wasn't going to give up and had just kept letting his strengths out for Jarek to notice. Jarek began to chant slightly while focusing on his illusions, the blurs of images becoming slightly more active and creating a whirl of energy as they moved that disrupted the air and caused new real sounds that would disrupt the sonar somewhat. The wrist blades sliding down quickly he began to tap them softly to create more ripples to continue disrupting the sonar. Jarek in this moment moved forward, knowing that his disruption would only last a second used his magic to practically shadow jump directly next to the two where he held still and waited. Here he could not be noticed by sonar, here his scent would already be spread enough and mixed with their enough that he was practically invisible, until the moment he would choose to strike.

Then Johan did something that didn't rely on his keenest senses... he opened his eyes, and, anticipating what the disruptive tactic led to... he kicked up a small cloud of dust around him with one foot... and looked for where the dust wasn't. Then, his left fist slammed straight for where the man's face -ought- to be. He wasn't looking to kill, just to let the person know to knock it the hell off.

As she had noticed before, one could only get so close before they were unable to conceal themselves. The hair on the back of Kyira's neck rose and she backed away from the sensation, using a gentle hidden step to manuver away from the dustless place, her wrist flicked and the vial's liquid splashed out, clear.

Jarek had his wrist blades extended already, the shadows broke and his blade came up for the weapon masters ankle. Right swiftly attacking while the left moved under it palm raised, a small barrier of shadows appearing for the liquid to splash against. "I Didn't come here to hurt you Johan." The voice was emotionless and cold as it spoke, the face human and body human.

Johan sighed as the weapon caught his armor. "Well, one can only assume so much when another goes unseen. If I'd wanted to cause harm, that'd been a sword, not a fist," He said softly, letting no hint of surprise the man knew his name come through. "But perhaps we could sit over a nice pint and talk things through"

Jarek shruged and closed his hand, the barrier of shadow suddenly wrapped out like fingers to grip at the girl. "I don't drink. You aren't my target she is." Jarek then looked away from Johan and lowered the wrist blade.

Kyira very simply stepped behind Johan. He could wrap the Forgotten up too if he wanted to play that way.

This statement caused Johan a moment of pause, "Targets and war and bloodshed, leading none of us to anything worth a damn. You move through the shadows, perhaps you're the one rumored to have assailed Tyrsis?" He said softly, now generally curious... and not moving. Too much moved in his mind at the moment to just leave things lay. "Sit, both of you, we will talk and have tea, as there is much that needs discussion," He said, hoping that he could pull this off...

Jarek just stood there, the shadows and magic breaking and fading. "News travelled to you fast, you were thirty miles away not so long ago and you've already been to Hogomoro and heard of my attack upon Tyrsis. What needs talking? I just need to know who I have to kill."

"Attacked the regent, huh. Not even I had heard that one yet." Kyira stayed behind Johan.

Johan sighed, "I move rather fast, you will find," He said, then tilted his head, "Only need to know who to kill? Foolish. I've done my share of killing, and know that I would like to know your motives," He said, wanting to know more about this odd fellow who seemed rather well matched with him. "Especially given we barely survive as it is. Tyrsis inadvertently caused strife, but she is a good person. I will fix that strife," He said, his eyes narrowed. "Kyira, I learned of it the same time I learned of the captain's betrayal"
