The man recognized the look, but disobeyed its plead despite the reputation of Damuthca Escalvone.

"We want to come with you." The words were spoken like lightning, rapid-fired and quick. Even if the Escalvone killed him, his men deserved this opportunity. He would die to do as they had asked him, as Kyira had asked him.

A murmer rippled across the watching crowd before several other voices chimed in, civilians adding their agreement.

There were voices of dissent as well, however.

Twenty of Hogormomo's city guard and five palace guard waited, watching their captain as he approached a legend and asked a favor. Everyone was looking at Damuthca.
