A brittle wind blew across Hogoromo, carried as though an announcement of the Escalvone's departure. It brought with it a scent, sweet and of roses half decayed. A trace of smoke drifted beside, not smelling of the pyre burned days ago, but holding its own trace of something keen. A spice that glittered in the air and did not quite offend the nose. Scent came suddenly, strengthening as the stranger passsed. The air chilled at her footsteps and shadows seemed drawn towards her.

She did not attempt to hide the swell of cold that followed her wake. Dark clothes and hooded face seemed to draw eyes and blame alike. No one could mistake the wash of frost as something other than her own.

Damuthca Escalvone passed by her left and she did not look at him. Unearthly pale eyes were focused on the palace so many often protected. Malcontent hung in the air with roses and ice.
