For starters we don't "cry" the gem. It's called a Soul Star gem and once it's created it splits. Half remains with the Angel that created it, the other half is given to the person it was created for. In the old timeline I created one for Zenra. She was pregnant with Emillia and was suffering and needed the energies the SoulStar provided."

Taking a deep breath she continued, her voice quiet and far too controlled to be considered calm.

"Drake has half of a SoulStar...... the half that the alternate me gave him before she left. Another aspect of the gem is that it also shows the state of the one who created it by glowing. If it's glowing brightly it means the person is alive and healthy but if it's glow stops.... either there's a barrier that cuts it off from the originator.... or the Angel is dead. Before I came back to Terra the glow in his half of the gem had ceased and when I returned it began to glow again. Apparently the gem recognizes me and believes that I'm the one who created it. And since it's glow had died ..... either my alternate is blocked or... dead."

Drawing her knees up to her chin and wrapping her wings around her she shook her head. She felt so helpless and it wasn't a pleasant feeling.

"I just don't know what to do Darke..... if I knew of a way to bring back my alternate self I would. If I knew where to send Drake to find my alternate self I would. But I don't know how to do either. I wish I'd never come through that portal. If I hadn't none of this would be happening."

What she didn't say was that if she hadn't stepped through that portal she could very well have died herself. She didn't belong on Aurora and in truth neither did Drake and sending him there, even it had been within her power to do so, would have eventually killed him.
