Yes.

Liberals realize the cultural context of sexism in the Bible and understand the comments about women in the Scriptures by examining the times. They were descriptive, not prescriptive for us. For our faith to be relevant, Christianity need to change with the modern world.

By insisting the Bible to be inerrant Word of God, Conservatives are habitualized to read the Bible as a law book and follow the superficial teachings in the text, disregarding the cultural context in which the text was formed. As such, they insist that the husband must be the "head" of the family, missing the point that the core meaning of that teaching was love, protection, and self-sacrifice.

====================================================

"Gradually I stopped filtering and twisting information. I learned more and more and felt better and better. I didn't want to see people only as potential converts. I wanted to love them for who they were and I wanted to love life here and now. Eventually I stopped categorizing people as sheep and goats, saved and damned. I was on my way out."

That is my experience too!

But then the question comes. Are people with this kind of mentality Liberal Christians or Ex-Christians? How to differentiate? As 離教者之家 exists, what should be the position and mission of a Hong Kong Liberal Christian Fellowship? And what should be the relationship between the two?

Maybe we are complimentary. Those Ex-Fundamentalists who do not want to have any dealing with Christianity anymore can go to 離教者之家 and those who do not want to give up their Christian identity can come to Hong Kong Liberal Christian Fellowship. Both can provide emotional support for Ex-Fundamentalists.
