Do read "Who are we to decide for women" post by Liberal.
To answer your questions.
//By the way, how do you define what is a baby?//
How do anyone define what is a baby? (beside those anti-women, anti-choice who try to confuse the issue).
Baby is a new born human being, at the moment of his/her birth.
// if a fortus develop to a stage that it already have all the organs and heart beats, do you still consider it as "potential life"?//
It is still a potential life, it is not ready to be 'born' yet.
//do you still think that mother have right to decide whether it can be aborted or not?//
This is a complex question.
First, the pregnant woman could decide to abort in the first trimester of the pregnancy. At that stage the embryo will have no chance of surivial outside of the womb. According to study, this is where most of the elected abortion take place. I believe it is well within her right to decide at this stage.
Second, the pregnant woman could have found some 'defect'in embryo she carried. She could elect to abort the embryo based on her own reasons (she is probably the only one who know if she is able to handle a special child) and decide to termiante her pregnancy. Who are you to decide for her and force her to give birth to a 'special child' that she couldn't take care of.
Thirdly, late term abortion. Late term abortion is only perform when the continue of pregnancy is contradicting to the life and health of the pregnant woman. It is logical to think if the pregnant woman carries the pregnancy for 7 or 8 months, she has full intention to give birth. The only exception, the one that I most objected to, is woman being forced to have an abortion at this stage. For fetus at this stage could survive if they give the pregnant woman the chance to give birth. Yeap, I'm talking about force abortion in China.
//I think on one hand we respect the woman's right on her own pregancies. On the other hand, we do not clearly define when a "potential life" become a full life that deserve the basic human right to live and to be protected by laws.//
The law has already put the 'potential life' into consideration. But the right of the fetus could not supersede that of the pregnant woman to the use of her body. The fetus wouldn't have right than any born human and use another person (the pregnant woman) without her consent.
//I think we have a different focus. Your focus is on how to protect the mother's right to keep or terminate her pregnancies. My focus is on how this right won't be abused, especially for developed fortus.//
What abuse? The assumption behind your words seems to indicate that you don't recognize women rights to not stay pregnant and consider them not wanting to be pregnant a form of 'abuse'. That is just ridiculous.
As you said, if your focus is 'only on the developing fetus' and neglected the rights of the women who carried it. That is just an anti-women, anti-choice, sexist, hypocritical stand.
I don't see how anyone could claim they care about 'potential life'(embryo) when they completely neglect the lives (women) that are right in front of them.
