Subject: Legacy

Legacy
Throughout the gospels we find various accounts of Jesus' life on Earth. We learn of Jesus' character, heart, passion, perseverance, love and dedication to the Father. This Easter season as we reflect upon the life, death and ressurection of Christ, I think we can draw some very valuable lessons from these gospels. One of which is the legacy that Jesus left.

1)Filled with Love:

"Jesus traveled throughout Galilee teaching in the synagogues, preaching everywhere the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed people who had every kind of sickness and disease." Matthew 4:23

*Matthew 8:1-4 Story of Jesus Healing the Lepor
*Matthew 8:14-17 Jesus Heals Many people
*Matthew 8:38-34 Jesus Heals a Demon Possesed Person

2)Forgiving others of wrongs:

Matthew 18:21-35

3)Servant Hearted:

*John 13:1-17....A story of true humility by Jesus washing another person's feet

"For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others..." Mark 10:45

4)Dedication to the Father's will:

"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine." Mark 14:36

5)Glory to the Father:

*John 17:1

From these Scriptures we can see that Jesus demonstrated four main (of course these aren't all the traits he exhibited) characteristics that changed the people he was around and ultimately the world. Namely, He was filled with love, He forgave others of wrongs that had committed against him, He was servant-hearted, He had a dedication to the Father and brought glory to the Father. When thinking about these things, I can't help but to think of a popular song from Nicole Nordeman, "Legacy" which sums up my challenge to all of us.
-------------------------------
I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace Who blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy

Not well-traveled, not well-read
Not well-to-do, or well-bred
Just want to hear instead
Well done, good and faithful one
-------------------------------
How will you be remembered? What are you doing to advance the Good News? Are you choosing to love, forget wrongs and be kind?

------------
And a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him." Matthew 3:17

Then Jesus sad to the disciples, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life.
Matthew 8:24-25
