I remember the store we all used to call the "Variety store" on the corner of Broadway and Fullerton I think it was?? Or was that Robinson? We'd often stop there either coming or going from visiting First Street relatives.
But for me the term 'corner store' will always be stamped in my memory as Antonelli's corner store, which we also referred to as the 7/11 long before there were those chains of 7/11's, on the corner of Windsor Hwy and Union Ave. As a young lad I often I used to risk life and limb to cross busy Rte 32 to get there for the latest pop music fan mags, soda pop, Wise potato chips (which we can't get out here on the West coast!), and those homemade piping hot meatball subs.
