 Any chores I had to do as a kid were mainly running occasional errands to one of the neighborhood storea for either my mother or grandmother,who lived with us...usually for a loaf of bread or a stick of butter for my mom, or for a new Superhero 'comics' book for my grandmother, who was a voracious reader of Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel and the like. Of course, she passed them along to me to read once she was done with them, so this wasn't much of a chore. Occasionally, she'd give me a dime to buy a Disney or Looney Tunes issue for myself, but she was definitely not interested in reading stories that featured cute little talking animals. And I devoured the adventure stuff as enthusiastically as she did.
