其實歐洲平地賽2800米以上的地位已不如前,從聖烈治大賽式微已可見一班,原因是大長途已不求速度只講氣量,但這方面障礙賽地位又遠勝大長途,久而久之具2800米氣量的馬已來跑今場.回說正題今場認識的馬有去年杯主Papineau ,廄侶Razkalla (榮貴來),去年飲恨跑第二的法國代表Westerner 由柏兆雷出策.去年還贏到愛爾蘭聖烈治的七歲馬Vinnie Roe (永利來)及去年葉森林打比殿軍Percussionist 等 (NT)Lincoln

金盃是全英因高水準兩哩半年長馬賽事,路遙要求當然馬匹長力及氣量,在平磅作賽下,不夠卡使馬"呼碌"機會不大. 一直觀看entry及最後racecard,小弟看今年乃近季最強的一屆,因先有兩匹曾勝此項馬Papineau同Mr Dinos力圖為勉. 前駒因傷休息近一年,上場初出一又四分三哩雖表現平凡,但目標早已放在今仗,應可重視. 而Mr Dinos近兩季成績已顯示表現不及Papineau,跑出水準機會亦止於一位. 反而去年亞軍Westerner連同上季,已連勝五場長途賽,氣勢一時無量,現成為大熱門3倍幾,贏馬呼聲看來真的甚高! 不過它要奪盃,除要擊到兩匹前盟主外,亦要問問另一匹長途名駒Vinnie Roe,此馬可贏三屆St. Leger已證實力是歐洲馬王級數,七歲馬仍未有退步之感,上賽在一匹同馬房馬造就下,勝出場一哩半賽作熱身,如臨場有雨地轉慢些,它的機會會更提升! 個人認為,今屆金盃頭三名應有兩匹出自此三匹馬: Papineau, Westerner及Vinnie Roe.
