Subject: Results Dallas Raceway 05/01/2010

This was one great event! The Outlaw Doorslammer Spring Nationals was the place to be this past weekend! With 14 teams showing up to battle for the 8 available spots, we ended up with one of the tightest qualified fields ever.

Qualifying Order

Mat Thomas was unable to make it down for the two rounds of qualifying on Friday. But right off the trailer in the 3rd round, he and Stan were able to put their car right to the top of the class. Clint Satterfield stepped up to the #2 spot in the same round, bumping Barry Williams to the #3 spot. Not long after the qualifying session was over, John Miller who drives the Barry Williams small block Corvette, was looking around the pits for some big nitrous pills!

Eliminations Round 1

Mat went into the beams first and when the tree came down they left virtually dead even! Mat did his best to drive the stripe, but it wasn't enough as he broke out by 11 thousandths of a second. Eddie was on a fantastic lap in the first round. His big mph was the fastest lap of the weekend! What a great race!

HT cut the best light of the weekend on his way to breaking out. David ran his best lap of the event taking the round win.

Clint was hanging on to his ever so slight starting line advantage at mid track when David’s car lurched hard during a gear change causing him to coast to the finish line. Clint cruised through the beams on a nice lap for the win.

Randy had the starting line advantage and was running hard when John (in that small block vet) went by at the stripe. Unfortunately the Corvette was too fast and Randy moves on to the next round.

Semi Finals

After nearly 2 hours of waiting for the larger classes to whittle down their fields we were back in action! By the time we were back in the lanes the air had come to us and everybody knew the engines were going to be happy! So this round was definitely one for the Tuners.

Eddie left first and had to pedal it at the mph cone to keep from breaking out. It was close on the big end, but David didn't have enough and it was Eddie Roach that moves on to the Final round for the second consecutive race.

Clint turned the first bulb on, but it was Randy who left first sending Clint to his second consecutive OTS Finals!

Final Round

In the Final Round of Eliminations we had Eddie Roach coming from the #8 spot, same as he did last week, and we had Clint Satterfield coming from the top of the ladder... just like he did last week! What a killer rematch this was going to be!

Eddie had lane choice and he put Clint in the left lane thinking the starting line was better on the right side. And in a stunning repeat of last weeks final round, Eddie lost traction at the hit giving Clint Satterfield and his Dad the win!

It was a pleasure working with Bubba and Letha up in the tower, you two made my job easy this weekend! There were well over 150 cars on the property running several different classes and it went as smooth or smoother than any race I've attended. If you were not there you missed a great event!
