There was (is still?) a unit made by Datong which compared signals from FOUR antennas and displayed the direction on a circle of LEDs. If it had been possible with only only TWO antennas, I'm sure they would have!
Some police vehicles have the four antennas for tracking stolen cars, too.

Isn't a beam easier? Wildlife trackers use them quite easily!
