I use two Alan 456R's for a motorcycle driving school, and I'm quite happy with them. See all relevant details about the Alan 456R on this excellent overview:

About the headset... I bought a headset that looks very much like the one presented on this webpage:

Don't buy the headset that I bought. The wiring is way too thin; breaks way too soon. I fixed the problem by replacing the wiring, because the microphone and the speakers are OK.

The combination of the Alan 456R and the fixed headsets is perfect for teaching while driving the motorcycles. Not just "left" and "right", but also explaining things while things happen. I prefer using a push to talk button over the vox-function of the Alan 456R.
