Subject: Great Site ! Congratulations

Wow,
congratulations to all who put this site together. It serves a valuable service and the odds are that in the future, many thousands of people are going to have a very satisfying educational hobby.

I recall starting off with UHF before moving to Amateur and the unlicensed UHF networks can be extremely enjoyable and practicable.

I love designing and building high performance Yagi's for UHF both on Amateur UHF and UHF CB in Aust/NZ 477mhz and in the US on their 462/467 bands.

In the past, for example in Australia in the early 80's, with just 4 x 11 element yagies, I was able to regularly talk 1500 plus kilometers and 400 Kilometers over water was an almost every day occurrence with just the minimum of ducting.

That stack of 4 11 elements also had Vertical, Horizontal and Circular, all switchable with relays at the masthead above the rotator.

I've still got a large exercise book full of unique designs for special purpose UHF antennas that would probably appear to most people as weird and wonderful but have great practical purposes that few ever use and are most unlikely to ever use.

Now I notice enthusiasts in the UK are starting to modify radio's to connect up high performance antenna's.

This is a very positive sign, high performance antennas allow people to talk minimizing interference while creating reliable contacts over many hundreds of kilometers especially over the ocean.

If you are a real UHF enthusiast in the UK, Ireland or Europe, I would like to hear from you to learn what is happening. If you include your phone number and I'll call you.
