Subject: Ultra Wideband Radio Frequency ID

Can you help please? I have a basic knowledge of RFID and frequencies but please could anyone give an explanation of what ultra wideband (UWB) RFID is and how does if differ from other RFID emitting on a normal radio frequency. Students at West Cheshire College have been using active UWB RFID for 2 years <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://rfidinschools.com/2012/12/24/real-time-tracking-more-enabled-by-new-industry-standard/">http://rfidinschools.com/2012/12/24/real-time-tracking-more-enabled-by-new-industry-standard/</a> worn as a lanyard around their neck. Apparently UWB RFID is geospacial and can also be used like geophysics equipment. (What frequency is that at?)
Here are UWB RFID student tags charateristics:
* UWB tags emit brief RF signals across the entire 6.35 to 6.75 GHz frequency band.
* Average battery lifespan of a tag is seven years.
* Receivers, which can receive tag signals from up to 328 feet away, located throughout the campus buildings, in order to ensure that the tags can be pinpointed no matter where within the school a student might be located.
* Designed to provide accuracy greater than 1 meter (3.3 feet).
* Transmission rate of once per second.
Thank you very much :-)
