Date Posted: 18:14:48 02/28/05 Mon In reply to: Robert 's message, "On my mind" on 09:34:25 02/28/05 Mon i wonder if, in the same way that love and fear can fit together like a puzzle (in that love fills the empty space created by fear, or love is the light to fear's darkness), anger and passion are two of a kind. anger is extreme emotion but somehow pressurized, bottled up, requiring shouting and screaming or even violence to release it. passion or turn-on or sex involves the release and flow of all that emotion. if you ignore one of them, you necessarily dampen or destroy the other one. both live in your body and you can clamp down on them inside of your body in similar ways. maybe that is one reason why many women - trained to avoid confrontation, to soothe sharp edges, to silence our rage so as not to upset anyone else - so many of us are not centered inside of our sexuality, grounded and open as sexual beings. but that's true for men too. one set of emotions held down and pushed away results in damage to the whole system. we are each like an individual ecosystem! butterflies flap their wings in one hemisphere and earthquakes result in the other. i think about forest management in this country and how our government wants to do everything it can to stop wildfires from blazing, or to do "controlled burning," when forests need wildfires in order to be healthy and to let go of the dead matter in order for new life to grow.
