Date Posted: 12:22:31 08/05/04 Thu In reply to: Judy 's message, "desire" on 09:13:57 08/05/04 Thu It's nice to know I'm not the only one with that syndrome. In my case, I think it's related to my tendency to see 10 sides of every issue and every question. I've always envied people who know exactly what they want, set goals and go for it. It's not easy to set goals when you're not sure what you want! So the question is: Why do some people know what they want, and why are people like us (or like me, anyway), tied up in knots with conflicting desires? Could it be that, deep down, we don't believe we should GET what we want? Maybe it's wrong to be too successful? Or it's wrong to have too much pleasure, or even too much happiness? . . . OK, that's just cheap 2-bit armchair self-analysis, worth what I paid for it. But it's an interesting question. And if I could answer it, I might even become sane.
