The Life and Times of Molly the Bassett Hound

The LIfe and Times of Molly the Bassett Hound
Your ears were bigger then the rest of you
when we brought you home.
You were fighting with the blades of grass
and tripping on your ears.
You were a tiny terror and a loving young hound.
You sat in the Recliner on my moms Calves
and ankles when you were bad as a pup.
You stole the fake Poinsetta basket.
You truly stole the show and played to the crowd
Your spark was so bright
you ruled the Enchanted Maze
and your name should have been put up in the bright lights
of Hollywood and on the walk of fame next to Lassie.
Despite all your trials and Trauma
you had a wonderful life
from your teeth being filed down from your overbite
to your hot spot
and near Death Experiences
you pulled thru like a dog with 9 lives.
We were truly blessed to have you in our home
for nearly 13 years.
You fought back from deaths door more then once.
You fought thru all your health problems
because you probably were bred too close to your brothers
and sisters.
You wagged your tail with Glee
and were always happy to see just about anyone
who walked thru our door.
You made friends even with people who didn't particularly
like dogs.
You herded the soccer ball around the yard.
You tried to chase those teazing squirrels down.
You barked from the window at passers by.
You had so many adventures
just in the backyard, or across the street in the neighbors yard.
You definately were one of a kind.
It was one wild ride.
Just seeing your floppy ears
and remembering all the good times.
I am in tears
as I remember
The life and Times of Molly the Bassett hound
