I badly burnt my hand today. I bought a green coffee bean roaster off the Internet. Out of my 61 years on this earth, 45 of em` I have been drinking coffee. 10¢ a cup at restaurants back then. I have been grinding coffee beans for many years now. For a few or so now, years I have been buying freshly roasted beans at nearby veggie and meat market. I surely thought that was a great mug of coffee. Now… like… I never new coffee could taste so dang scrumptious, delectable, delicious. I took a risk and did not use coffee flavoring syrup in my first mug of freshly roasted, freshly ground & brewed coffee… nope absolutely do not need flavoring. I got eight small baggies of sample green coffee beans from around the world. I can actually tastes a tint of flavoring like licorice, nut, ginger, and so on. Just awesome, just is.

Anyway, I use a coffee filter cone to pour boiling hot water over the freshly ground coffee beans. I just bought new plastic coffee mugs with lids to keep the coffee warmer for the length of time it takes me drink a mug of coffee. The opening of a mug is almost a hair to big for the filter cone. I have to hold the base of the cone while I pour the water… yep… the cone slip, I flinched to save it and now I got maybe 3rd degree burn on the whole of the back of my hand. I drove to a local hospital that it is the first time there for me. The doc said he could give me a painkiller shot but I would not be able to drive…naw, I said. "I want to go home." He gave me script for Lortabs, which are the same as Vicodin but twice as strong. They did a very good job of dressing the burn. I asked them if they had a treatment for stupidity… and I came home. I made my coffee the same way as before… if ya fall off a bicycle, ya gotta get back up on it pronto.

I have to worry about infection. I am subject to a type of bacteria that can kill me and burns such as this if not very careful can be the loss of one's whole hand to start with. I also have very impaired immune system. I have to follow up with my doc tomorrow.

Thanks for listening,
RICHARD
