The word 'diet' as in dieting... seems to me to be an inaccurate use of the word. The word diet refers to what we eat period. Like, my daily diet made up of this and that. Dieting is an illusion to keep one unaware or in self-denial of what really is needed. My chemical addictions with drugs like alcohol, pot, speed… I only need not pick up the first one to circumvent my addictions. With food addiction… how can one not pick up the first one… gotta eat. The only tougher addiction I think is my mental addictions… they are not simple concrete things like pushing a beer or a piece of chocolate cake away. Anyway, it is not about 'dieting', it is about lifestyle change. Therapy is not about the therapist saying something that makes a client feel good or getting a 'be happy pill'. It is not about a "bitching session". Therapy is about behavior change. Therapy is about finding, recognizing, attitudes, old unresolved feelings (often just a day old)… anything that manifests itself into behaviors that do not healthily benefit a person. Mostly, therapy is making behavioral changes that bring into one's life good stuff that balances out all the negative stuff that is just part of life. If one starts the hard life long lifestyle changing by support groups, (face to face, online, etc.), self-help literature, therapy, etc. Then along the way things will just improve. Behaviors like only telling the truth when it is convenient, swearing, shoplifting, control issues, codependence issues, chemical addictions, including food addiction, relationship addictions, and so on and so on, will just take care of themselves. One just needs to be sick and tired of being sick and tired enough to go to any length to change... and start. I do not think it is you who is a failure at dieting; it is that the so called Diets are destined to fail to begin with because they are only a quick fix that don't work without lifestyle change. With lifestyle change you will not have to do the struggle (discipline) of dieting fads.

Oh, "good stuff" mentioned above… becoming a more healthy person opens one's eyes to the existence of other more healthy persons who are already about us and who we will be more attractive for and to begin to surround us by which the good stuff is attained… like a healthy comfortable relationship… in our growth we learn to do those relationships. We did not have Relationship 101 in grade school or high school… ya know.

So I think.
RICHARD
