Subject: The Holiday

Cute movie. Romantic comedy but it's more romantic than funny. Bill and I went to see it Saturday and it triggered both of us into feeling very depressed. It was one of those movies where everything just falls into place for both couples and in the end everything is just wonderful and great and everyone is happy. Oh, if only it were that easy. I looked at Bill and said, "well now I know what's wrong with my life." He asked what and I said, "bad writing. If we just had these writers to script our lives for us then every problem would just melt away and everything would be just peachy." Life just isn't that easy. I wish it was.

Anyway, it's a cute movie. It really is but for whatever reason Bill and I both came away from it feeling like our lives took a wrong turn and wishing we knew what it was like for things to fall into place.

Since he moved closer to me we've seen each other a few times. He lives about 25 minutes from me so we don't see each other nearly as often as we did in Aiken when we were 2 miles apart. He has a new job and is still trying to get settled in so maybe we'll do more as time goes by. He's doing ok. He works at Social Services, helping the case workers. He says he sees a non-ending line of people with some screwed up situations. Kind of puts things in perspective. As bad as we think things are they could always be worse.

We're going to see Night in the Museum with Ben Stiller when it comes out. There's no romance in it and it's a comedy so maybe it will pick us up.
