Subject: More hospital stuff

I have a staff infection: one of two kinds. It is skin staff or a port/line infection. If it is a skin staff, I will be able to go to the assisted living and rehab outfit. If it is the port staff, I will have to stay here at the hospital, continue the strongest Viconmycn (sp) anti-biotic and probably get a new port. The port: med port is a plastic part that insert into a large vein in my chest. The nurses can stick a needle in and infuse me with saline water. When the nurses pull the needle out a valve closes keeping the blood closed in.

I have been carrying a low grade fever that spikes often to a high grade fever. They will not let me go in that case also. They are taking care of me I guess.

I have an about 2/3 in long and 3/4 in wide hard spot under my skin near my neck. It is very painful. I have gone around and around trying to get the docs and surgeons to address the problem. Yesterday, the chief trauma surgeon, who is my surgeon, kinda fluffed it off, so it seemed to me. Last night it was most painful. They would not give the more powerful dilaudin (sp) painkiller because I cannot go to the assisted and rehab with that kind of strong painkiller in me. I could not get doc up to see me last night. However, one of my surgeon’s team saw me this morning. She is going to have another surgeon look at to determine what kind of test to get. I so want get to the rehab and get my program started.

I was just starting revel in the joy of my new home and car. I want get more of it.

I was getting some better sleep last night as now I can even row over a bit and get off the small of my back, which has degenerative arthritis and was the only way I could lay down. A little sleep goes a long way improving my mood.

RICHARD
