Subject: Feis

I will be dancing at the Moscow feis in October that is being organised by An Coimisiun group in Russia. I have been told that this is an open feis as the rules have been changed to allow WIDA schools to take part. Is this case in other countries as I dance for a WIDA school and want to know if I can dance in feis in other countries when I travel on business. I am an adult dancer and I have been dancing for three years and now want to experience the dancing in other countries. Do I have to get special permission to dance at other An Comisiun feis.

HI Yuri.,
To my knowledge you are only allowed to dance an An Coimisiun feis if you are registered with a teacher of that organisation. This Moscow feis situation must be unique as I see no mention of it on the European Mainland teachers site. I dont know if everyone within AC is aware that the rules have been changed for this feis but there must be a reason for it. So in answer to your question - no, I dont think you will be able to dance in feiseanna in other countries unless it is an open platform competition.

I think the Derry feis is restricted to the original organisations of Comission and Comdhail which is why you will not see anyone from other organisations taking part
