Quite right, Perry. :-)

I do still believe, though, that the Reagan administration could have, and should have, responded more quickly to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. And I believe that Reagan's slowness to respond to the crisis was owing to the personal religious difficulties that he had in devoting large amounts of time and money to curing a disease that affected almost exclusively gay men.

Your statistics on the amount of money that the administration devoted to AIDS research are unastounding. Sure, the amount increased quite significantly as the epidemic worsened, but was this amount enough? I believe that it wasn't, especially given the scope of the disease as it was known in the late 1980s. I concede, however, that it's difficult to say just how much would have been enough.

Are you unwilling to admit that Reagan's AIDS policies were unacceptable simply because you are supportive of his economic policies?
