The latest from Bush on AIDS:

"We can learn from the experiences of other countries when it comes to a good program to prevent the spread of AIDS, like the nation of Uganda. They've started what they call the A.B.C. approach to prevention of this deadly disease. That stands for: Abstain, be faithful in marriage, and, when appropriate, use condoms."

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/24/politics/campaign/24bush.html

The good news: Bush has finally recommended using condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS in the US. It's the first time he has done so.

The bad news: Even though Bush has gotten over his fear of the "c" word, he still refuses to use the "g" word -- gay. He did not mention gay men -- one of the groups most at risk -- at all during his entire speech. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that this is the man who can advocate a constitutional ban on gay marriage without mentioning the word "gay". And becasue of that ban I guess that the "B" of "A.B.C.", being faithful in marriage, just doesn't apply to gay men.
