I've watched them go thru hard times & good times. I know that CHANGE is a HARD THING & NOT ALWAYS EASY to adjust too. I will always like TAKABITE, but I DO MISS THE OLD TAKABITE. I remember getting on the dance floor at the Grid Iron, Pepe's & Leroy's and dancing all night. You didn't stop til it was last song and you screamed "ONE MORE" begging Maggie or JV or Dickie. You didn't care what it was... you just didn't want them to end... I'd drive to Elkhart, Allegan, Michigan, Kankakee just for a nite to listen to them play ... then turn around and drive back home. But its just not the same. THE TALENT IS THERE ... but they need to LISTEN to the fans... What happen to all the orginals???? Maggie coming upfront and singing?? I too would turn to my child and say ... TAKABITE use to play this... Guys, YOU ARE AN AWESOME BAND... please don't lose your following... Please listen to your fans... THE CROWD JUST LOVED 'EM and couldn't stop dancing! Also, Heather did an AWESOME job filling in and singing vocals this past weekend, as Maggie's voice decided to take the night off! I'm the one from Cincinnati, OH. We danced our butts off that night thanks to the band. I just want to say that I have not enjoyed a show that much in a long, long time. My sisters and I still talk about that night, what a blast! You guys/gal ROCK! Thank you for the CD, my 17 yr. old daughter has possession of it since I brought it back home. We love it. Everyone called them husband and wife (or wife and husband, depending on your preferences) anyways, so it's now official! On Christmas Eve, 2003, Douglas proposed to Sonia, after dating over three and a half years... It's about damn time! We haven't set a date yet, however, we're tentatively looking at either July or August of 2005. Overheard (Feb 21st, 2004)... while Sonia was talking to her mom... Sonia: Guess what I made for dinner last night? Jambalaya! Mom: You cooked it or Doug did? Sonia: I cooked! Mom: I made Chicken Cacciatore. Haven't had that in a while. Sonia: I just told Doug what you said, and he's STILL laughing at me! Sonia: Thanks a LOT, Mom! Sonia: See, now, he's going to post this on our wedding website! Mom: Well, he's the one that I usually hear doing the fancy cooking. (Meanwhile, all you can hear is Douglas just going through fits of laughter...) Overheard today... while Sonia was talking on the phone to a friend... Sonia (to her friend): Girl, did you see Beyonce? Douglas (in the background): Hubba hubba hubba. ANYWHO, HERE'S MY RECIPE FOR WEED BROWNIES. ENJOY. EIGHTH OUNCE MEDIUM QUALITY WEED BROWNIE MIX (BETTIE COCKER OR SOME SHIT) HALF STICK BUTTER MELT BUTTER IN A PAN. ADD WEED. SAUTE UNTIL THE BUTTER TURNS GREEN. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SMOKE ANY OF THE WEED BEFORE IT REACHES THE PAN. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR IT ALL TO GO INTO THE BROWNIES. You guys are still one of the very few bands that are way seperate from all the mundane bullshit cover happy dance bands that have nothing creative to offer. I and my husband enjoy you all and for the few that evidently have sour grapes for what ever reason please find another band to throw darts at. Johnny and Maggie we love you guys and the Bobbys too! I think the band deserves a little more credit and respect. We talk to the members in the band and to a person they all care about their fans. Even they (the band)bitch to themselves about kicking it in the ass and learning more tunes. How many weekends do they take off? day jobs? Been followin the "bite" for just over 5 years and have seen them go through various talent, lead, keys, bass...all of who have provided different styles, etc. Have got to know some great people and some talented musicians also. As of late, Takabite is becoming more of a band you listen to and less of one that you interact with. (ie: dancing) The music they are playing is great but I agree that they have fallen away from what has always brought the people out to hear them. Evertime I hear a song on the radio, I tell my son, the band used to do that song, but they don't anymore. What happened to The Stones, The Indigo Girls, Steely Dan, The Bodeans?? All great music, but no longer covered. I think that it's time to get away from the cerebral and back into the physical, booty-shaking Takabite that we all remember and love. If that means a change in bandmates, then so be it. Takabite is talented and great to listen to, but they need to remember, they would be nowhere without the fan base they have spent many years building up. Keep us oldtimers interested and the young'uns will follow! Love you guys, always! |

Date Posted: 05:07:57 06/30/04 Wed Hmmm...I think that new guy is one of the most talented guitar players that I have ever had the pleasure to hear. His talent is amazing, even mesmerizing at times. But, the band is playing in a different style than what us old timer bite fans are used to...longer, more noodling, more listening-type tunes. That kind of music is great too, but maybe the band would consider mixing in more short, danceable tunes much more often. That's what most bite fans I know miss the most, those great in your face rock and roll dance tunes, no fluff, no muss. I think that new guy could be killer at those too. Whaddaya think bite? More dance stuff? Pretty please? |

Speaking of storms I was informed, notified, given the heads up, whatever you want to call it by one of our fans (the best this side of Topeka Kansas) that at Buddy and Pals they had a different agenda that did not include us for this fri night. Our apologies to any one who was planning on attending the show. So fri night is date night!! And sat is a private party at Montrose harbor in Chicago!!
