No, no, I did not make myself clear. On my planet, it is quite different the term of the word 'mercenary'. We term it as...ah, 'one who has forsaken the common way of life to take up the higher cause of battling for freedom'. Freedom on my planet is what is chiefly of importance to my people. We are called 'Freelance mercenaries'. We fight for what we wish, not who pays the greatest sum. That is the difference, she explains, licking a crimson paw covered in fur before settling down on her paws, eyes flicking about the room. I did not know, or I would have clarified myself further. We call them mercenaries because the side we believe in changes as values change. At least, those truly to be called 'Freelance mercenaries' believe so, she adds, spitting. The others leave a foul taste in my mouth. There is only so much that money can influence my mind. She doesn't expect 'Kartis to apologize. She's touchy most days, let alone if she had had to fight for her planet.
