Kley abruptly rises from beside a heaping pile of fish, trotting towards Banretin with urgency in her dark eyes. "Ban, I must go now," she whispers in his ear as she reaches him. The half-grown Korat blinks, startled, and starts to protest. Kley silences him with a paw pressed against his shoulder, "No. You're old enough to take care of yourself. I must go. Goodbye, Ban--" A crack of thunder is enough to send the young male leaping backwards in fear, ears flattening to a striped skull. "But--" he starts to say, and the arrival of a swirling Portal silences him. As he watches, his guardian and friend is absorbed into the whirling entity, and its eccentric colors vanish with another loud sound.

Banretin stares in shock at the place where Kley had just stood, her pawprints wiped clean by the gale-force winds of the vanished Portal. Whimpering, the young Korat tucks himself into a ball and buries his muzzle under his paws, shivering and trying to cope with his sudden abandonment.
