First of all...the $200 dollars is for class time, a back ground check, and licensing. You are not paying Primerica anything...that money goes to the state you live in. You must be licensed through the state to sell Life insurance.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL WITHOUT A LICENSE!! That is why you can not get paid until you past your state test.

Second of all...you are correct, you are not an employee. You are a business owner. You do not get paid minimum wage because you work off of commission similiar to a car dealer or an agent working through any life or health insurance agency.

Lastly... Primerica has EVERYTHING to do with financing... They help people by educating them to become debt free and financially independant. That way when they retire at 55 or 60 they have more to live off of than the dwindling social security or so they dont have to bag groceries at 70 years old. And this is what they do for their customers, not just their employees or "recruits".

It seems to me that most of the negitive comments that I am reading on this message board as well as a lot of others on the net are from people that showed up at the recruitment meetings and didnt like what they see... Most of the good comments are from people that stuck around for more than a couple of weeks and then enjoyed the service that Primerica provides for people and stuck around for a couple more months or years...yes it is very similar to a MLM...yes you do have to recruit people to work with you...yes sometimes it is uncomfortable to talk to people and try to "sell" them on your service. However Primerica does not sell breakfast cereal or candles or perfume like some MLM companies that people have been "burned" by.

I think that people should at least go to a meeting if any of this sounds promising...if at the end of the meeting you think it is a scam or "too good to be true" then stand up and leave, but at least form your own opinion.
