ok, so i've been reading stuff about this company. response ranges from "OMG this is the best thing that's ever happened to me" to "OMG run as fast as you can away from this". and most of it is surrounded about the company structure - MLM, recruiting, etc. i'm not concerned about how the company is structured, i'm not 'joining', i like my job just fine helping people everyday.
anyway, what i'm wondering is the actual product that is sold. specifically the term life insurance and the smart loan. i talked to a rep, so i know what they can offer me. i looked up a few other quotes and i found that the primerica insurance isn't really any more expensive, and in a couple of quotes was actually cheaper, then anyone else. though that's one of the biggest complaints i read about. so all things being equal on cost, is there really anything wrong with the product itself? again, i'm not concerned about the company structure. if it costs $X with primerica and $X with company A and both seem to have good ratings with S&P and AM BEST, why should i choose company A over primerica?
the other question i have is about the simple interest loan they promote. it doesn't seem to be as widespread as i would think it would be if it's such a good deal. primerica is not the only one that offers these, btw. it's just not promoted by other lenders who do. so what's the deal with these? this would be to pay off a credit card and a home equity line of credit. my mortgage is being left alone - even primerica couldn't do better, the sales rep even said "best thing to with that is what you are already doing". sounds like a "my best interest" in mind kind of comment.
so again, i'm asking specifically about the products themselves. i don't care how they do business or how they pay people or how people pay them. if people want to get into that line of work, that's their business and risk. so please no "it's a scam" replies. i would like a more objective response to their product.
btw, my experience with the sales rep was very good. he was professional, very open to questions, knew the controversies, no pressure to buy anything, etc. - nothing less then what i would expect if i walked into any other kind of financial services office.
