Date Posted: 15:54:04 06/28/04 Mon In reply to: Klaus 's message, "Re: AAFC" on 19:50:25 06/26/04 Sat Just sent a number of scans on the very early NFL team logos. Also a few odd pictures from the old CFL and one or two from the ORFU (Ontario Rugby Football Union). There's a league that would be difficult to get logos for! The Toronto Indians and Hamilton Wildcats as well as two teams I can't remember as I type this. The ORFU used to compete with the old "Big Four" and occasionally sent teams to the Grey Cup before becoming too minor league for the rest of the pro teams in Canada. The Wildcats merged with the Big Four's Hamilton Tigers to become part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Toronto Indians and the other two ORFU teams went out of business in 1949. Your work on the Continental League continues to impress. Nobody else has tackled that league, it's so good to see you doing that. Hopefully you can make some use of the Seattle Rangers item I sent. I really love those early NFL helmets, and the AAFC as well, once you get past the Browns. For a small number of teams, the AAFC produced a number of logos. If you don't have all of them I can supply some. But I think John Fulgaro's book is more complete. I know the Yankees helmet was blue with a white stripe, and the LA Dons was red with no stripe, at least for one season and possibly all four. Chicago Hornets was yellow, with the other color likely black. I've heard that the Miami Seahawks helmet was green but haven't seen any photos to support that. >John, > >Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you as I >have been on vacation!
