Date Posted: 08:54:30 08/29/04 Sun After the 1965 season, the first of the Continental Football League, a contract was signed between the Continental Football League and the ABC Network to begin national televising of the league in 1966, as had been done the earlier years with the network with the American Football League. Somehow the National Football League interceded illegally and that is how there is a Monday Night Football with the NFL. The United Network which evolved into the Overmeyer Network was in process of doing the same thing, as a "Fox Network" in 1967, this never took place.
