IIRC, the Overmeyer network was one of those underfunded tv outfits that simply didn't have the money necessary to create a network. Same thing happened to DuMont in the 1950's, they were the third network but ran out of cash and collapsed. In the 1970's Paramount planned to launch a fourth network, using the revived Star Trek series as their centerpiece, but again lack of money and lack of enough independent stations in large cities willing to commit to a new network finished that dream. Anyway, in 1965 the NFL was trying to come to some kind of agreement with the AFL, and the Continental League was hardly a bump in that road.
