ok klaus.

this is the DEFINITE striping pattern for the nfc-afc pro bowl helmets in use from the 1970 season thru the 1977 season. from the 1978 season on, the players wore their own teams' lids:

AFC 1970: white-blue-white
1971: white-blue-white
1972: white-blue-white
1973: no stripes
1974: white-blue-white
1975: blue
1976: blue-white-blue
1977: white-blue-white

NFC 1970: blue-red-blue
1971: blue-red-blue
1972: blue-red-blue
1973: no stripes
1974: blue-red-blue
1975: red
1976: blue-red-blue
1977: blue-red-blue

AFC helmet was red thruout.

NFC helmet was white thruout.

this will hopefully clear this up for good.
