Subject: As many years as I have attended pageants and specifically in the last few years of attending prelims, this was the worst pageant I have made myself sit through. C/I for review

To begin we started late; DG was coming in and was late so the pageant was held until she was there to judge the side awards. The house lights were left on with no additional lighting for the stage and the Emcee, while she was not drunk like you often find at Shelly's pageants, she could not read and did not seem interested in what she was doing.

Overall I felt bad for the outgoing queens; they introduced themselves in opening number and then were never brought back on stage until they gave their farewell speech. With such beautiful out going queens who have done so much with their years, why would you not have them on stage to chat instead of poorly managed intermissions and opera singers? Not that the singers were bad, they were just not needed. Shelly did more to add time to her pageant and used her queens so little that I felt like she must have been happy to have them go.

Teen swimwear: who was hiding the spray tan machine in the back and please directors do not let them into your pageant. Of the 7 Teen who competed at least 5 of them were attacked by the tan master. They were some un-natural color and most you could not see their features b/c they were all one color. Amanda P and Jordan S. both had horrid hair for swimwear and you could not make out anything except for their eyes. Ashton, who I just love, was over tanned as well but had the best body for sure. Poor darling, bless her heart, forgot to come back out for the swimwear line up. Ashley M, who was the face of the pageant as they say, looked great in swimwear, attacked too by the tan monster but still looked great. You had to look at her. I would have had Ashley M, Ashton V and then Jordan S in swimwear (JS is still a little thick and the hair, WOW bad)

Miss Swimwear: If the emcee could have gotten her stuff right I think Merrill might have won but since the emcee did not have her book in order and called out two contestants to compete before calling Merrill, who was number one, out for swimwear and mind you called Merrill but the wrong name, Eva Morral Bankston. Jamie looked good and worked the stage well, Merril looked great, a little lack luster in the stage presence but still hot and the other two were just fillers. Sorry, but they were.

Evening gown in Teen: Ashley M wore what I believe was Megan B's Teen USA dress, if not it looks a lot like it, two piece with a handkerchief skirt, and looked great. Wonderful on stage, amazing, are you all getting the picture. Jordan wore the same dress from state which does not fit well and has a slight roll in the back, Ashton had a new dress, bubblegum pink, with a v-neck and it looked nice, but her lips and dress were the same color and the only thing you could see since she was too tanned. The other contestants looked ok, but no one else stood out.

Miss: Merril wore her yellow dress but was super silly and let that Sammy man do her hair. It was the biggest up do I have seen since Dallas in the 80's. While I would have taken points off for appearance, yes this is a point scale kind of pageant; I still think she was hot! Jamie wore a white dress that might have been the same dress PP wore when she won BR, but I could be wrong. She worked it well but I did not care for the fit of the gown on her top, just made her breast look odd.

What should have happened from what you could see on stage: Teen would have been Ashley M with Jordan S as 1st maybe and Ashton 2nd and in Miss I would have gone with Merrill, but Jamie is great and I am happy for her.

My biggest issue with this director, is that she get awful judges. These judges had no idea what they were looking for and if they did they were looking for the wrong thing. I think that Ashley M and Kristen G will be your top 2 in Teen next year and that Merrill will beat Jamie every time on the big stage. In addition to having bad judges Shelly needs to take better care of her queens and use the connections she has. The emcee, while she might be a great competitor, is not a very interesting emcee. Shelly has better contacts for emceeing than that, use them. Also keep the pageant under 2 hours, start on time and stop all of this silly entertainment. Why can't directors get it right, well at least some do.
