Subject: Question: Confronting People on Sin

I accidently deleted Striving2bProverbs31's question on talking to friends about sin. The specific sin S2BProv31 was referencing was living out of wedlock or "shacking up". This can always be a hard one because no one ever wants to think that love is wrong. In Romans Ch.2, it says we have to be humble ... meaning not to be confrontational but loving.

The book of 2 Timothy is a letter from Paul in which he gives Timothy instruction and encouragement as the leader of the church at Ephesus. Chapter 2:20-26 explains how we should be kind and never settling less than God's highest and best. How we as Christians should let God use us as instruments of his will.

And I'm learning a lot of times this means to help other people see Christ. Back to 2 Tim 20-26, it says that wise people realize their temptations and remove themselves physically .. (22- flee youthful lusts ...) Also how we're supposed to teach God's word with patience, being kind and gentle. We aren't to be disrespectful because an arguement would cause the person we're "just trying to help" to continue to sin and with a vengence. So we aren't to debate with them. (24 - and a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they know the truth, 26and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will)
