When I visited the other church in which I received the lessons, the teacher who was really cool and others members shared some of their "trips" in their walk. Several things I took from this (which I'm sharing with you) and put together from the things I've learned in church and in my life is that God has us in situations to fine tune us for what's to come. If we find that the situation is changing us, then it's something God is getting us to change about ourselves. Many times we want to battle with the physical (people) but we have to remember that this is a spiritual battle.

ALSO, I HAVE LEARNED FROM CHURCH THAT YOU GOT TO CALL THE DEVIL BY HIS NAME AND TELL HIM I KNOW YOU! -- AND YOU BETTER GET ON SOMEWHERE BEFORE I GET GOD. SEE THE DEVIL CAN FOOL THOSE WHO DON'T SEE HIM CREEPING. CALL HIM OUT like you did that person who talked about you in high school. AND SAY IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT.DON'T SPEND TIME GOING OVER STUFF IN YOUR HEAD AND HAVING CONVOS WITH THE DEVIL (I'm learning how to avoid this now at my church)
Notice how Satan tries to get at us through the ones we care about the most. Why? -- because those are the people that can hurt us. Satan is crafty now but he's stupid because the battle is already won. God has won already. So we have to put on our armor .. As my Bishop says to us that we can't use his armor and knowing one bible verse ain't gonna help you when dealing with mountains and giants.
In the class, the teacher also warned that whatever the situation is DON'T get out of it. Why? Because unless we totally deal with the situation the next situation may be even worse. God is trying to get us straight and in doing so he has to take the heat to us. Kevin uses the example of a hot iron to a wrinkled shirt. Most of us have all kinds of wrinkles too and some of us need more heat than others .. Amen?
So it's not the "people" it's the Devil in them as my Bishop says. Bishop says put on the whole armor of God. This armor can be found in Ephesians 6:10-18. http://www.crossroad.to/text/articles/armorofgod.html
And when he says you can't use his, he means what he preaches is his and from his own experiences with God from what he read and studied and/or lived through. He can get you the message and the inspiration but after that you're on your own. You've got to have your own testimony, praise, prayers, and inspiration to stand.
So we have to read, praise, pray, read, praise, pray and know for ourselves so when we are faced with, confronted with, dealing with, talking with .. WE can get through.
As my Bishop says, look at your neighbor and say I'm a giant killer, are you?
