Subject: Should I make the first move?

I met this guy at a school dance. I think he's really hot. We started talking. He's really nice. Later my friends asked me to go with them to a restaurant, so I asked him to go. When he was at the restaurant, he didn't really talk to me, he talked mostly to my friends. Afterwards, I asked him whether he would drive me home, and he said yes, but my friend insisted me on going home with her. So I just left him. He didn't even ask for my phone number or anything. One of my friends know him and I don't know whether I should get his phone number and call him. I want to know whether he is interested, and he seems like a passive guy, he might want me to make the first move.
