Subject: straight perm vs. bonding

I had a straight perm done in October of 2001. I am undecided between rebonding ($600) and Paul Brown's straight perm ($150). Which would be better? I have curly, thick hair. I color the roots about every two weeks.
Does wet hair really remain straight after the rebonding?
