Nathan Laporte is now 14 years old. He has never been potty trained because his mother Shelley has kept him in bed for 14 years. His diapers are delivered from a medical supply company located in Wixom Michigan which is the contracted provider of incontinence supplies for the State of Michigan through Medicaid.
Nathan received minimal skin burns during the surgical procedure which took place at William Beaumont Hospital. The actions of the attending physician who performed the procedure was extremely careless, and should have never happened. Shelley Laportes actions have been much, much worse,because she has controlled,manipulated,handicapped and destroyed the life of her son Nathan. Why would she do this? Because of
money. She took a misfortunate accident and viewed it as an opportunity to receive what she thought would be millions of dollars, forgetting there was a cap on medical malpractice lawsuits in the State of Michigan. She is still fighting the award which was granted to Nathan by the jury of this trial. She continues to file appeal after appeal,taking the case all the way to the Michigan Supreme Court. Every court of appeals has upheld the decision of the lower court, and Nathan is still suffering. I highly doubt the abuse and damage Nathan has suffered his entire life can be reversed. But that is not an acceptable excuse to let it continue. I am contacting Child Protective Services.
