I'm not sure what to make of all this, but I'm going to post a bunch of articles and make of it all what you will and believe what you will of it.

Prosecutor Investigates Cox Allegations Against Fieger
Attorney General Made Affair Public, Claiming Blackmail

POSTED: 9:28 am EST November 10, 2005

DETROIT -- The Oakland County prosecutor is investigating allegations of extortion and blackmail between Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox and political rival attorney Geoffrey Fieger.

Cox (pictured, right) went public Wednesday about an extramarital affair that threatened his marriage, claiming the affair is being used against him by Fieger to prevent an investigation.

Prosecutor David Gorcyca said the potential charges against Fieger and associate Lee O'Brien could include obstruction of justice and extortion.

Cox admitted to his wife, Laura, in March 2003 that he had an affair. He made the public announcement during a news conference Wednesday.

"I think if people see that I'm, figuratively, stripping myself bare in order to do my job, they'll understand how much it means to me. And they can judge for themselves," said Cox Wednesday night.

Since March, Cox's office has been investigating Fieger in connection with an anonymous donation of more than $450,000 to a political action committee, Local 4 reported. Cox said O'Brien threatened him with exposure if he did not stop the Fieger investigation.

Cox contacted the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Local 4 reported.

Investigators are reviewing tapes of discussions between Fieger, O'Brien and Cox.

Gorcyca said that with the "players involved" there will be "high stakes."

"I want to make sure that if we charge (Fieger), that there's sufficient factual, legal basis to do so," said Gorcyca.

Fieger denied any wrongdoing. He issued a statement Wednesday:

"This is an intensely private matter, which should have remained private. I am offended that Mr. Cox has publicly attempted to deflect his own improper behaviors by repeatedly engaging in extramarital affairs and then making accusations against myself and others to deflect his guilt. I have been blamed for a lot of things, but this is the first time I have been blamed for another man cheating on his wife."

Fieger, who won the 1998 Democratic nomination for governor after becoming famous as the attorney for assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian, has said he wants to challenge Cox, a Republican, in the 2006 election, The Associated Press reported.
